To open a Public Provident Fund (PPF) account, you can visit a bank or post office branch, or apply online:
Bank branch: Visit a bank branch that offers PPF accounts, get an application form, fill it out, and submit it along with KYC documents and the initial deposit.
Post office: Get an application form from a post office, fill it out, and submit it along with KYC documents and a passport-sized photograph. The initial deposit is between Rs. 500 and Rs. 1.5 lakh per financial year.
Online: Apply online through a bank’s internet banking service.
Once your application is processed, you’ll receive a passbook with details about your account.
You can also open a PPF account on behalf of a minor or a person of unsound mind if you’re their guardian.
